Hi! I'm Scottie Kaye, a fantasy erotica author working under an obvious pseudonym. The Rose Contract and its subsequent series is my first foray into erotica, and I think it turned out awesome. I tried to write relatively tasteful, but delightfully explicit fantasy that felt a little more "real" than anything I'd seen before. Ask me anything!

I'm here if anyone has any questions! Or I can just shout into the void ;)
Lauren asked: "How does the published book compare to your original story concept? Did you always know the world/plot/characters or was your first draft very different?"
I outlined the whole series before I began, and all the main stuff remained mostly the same from start to end--but the story grew more complex and nuanced as I went along. I went from 15-line outlines to 5-page outlines. It really felt like it was writing itself, like it was just waiting to be told :)
What is your favourite thing about writing erotica?
Getting to see sex written the way I've always wanted to see it written: with a little bit of class. Euphemisms can take you right out of a story if they're bad ones. I also wanted to feel like these could be real people. Every man in normal erotica is just "packing." Every woman has giant jugs. Well, that's not reality, is it? I wanted there to be freedom in the stories--the ability for real people to see themselves, their emotions, and their bodies reflected therein.
How long did it take you to write your books?
Each book took a week to write and a week to edit. Waiting on feedback took longer. And there was lots of space between the books as I was getting married in the same time frame and prepping for a wedding!
@Scottie Kaye Oh wow! Super fast! Also, congrats on the wedding!
Did you model any characters after people you know or have met? Did one of the characters become a favorite of yours?
I haven't modeled any character after any one person. That would be a one-way street to drama, haha, especially with sexual situations involved! Though some personality traits might have gotten into some of the characters. I had a high school boyfriend I always thought was as deep as Jaen Portent. Jaen was how I saw him. (Hint: I was wrong about the boyfriend, lol.)
I think Jaen Portent is my favorite. A dark, tortured man. He was the most fun to write. Oriole's scenes were a blast. And Tillie Blood--she was hilarious. Can't wait to return to her in the sequels (she was only a side character).
